Jeep 4x4 Vehicles Adelaide: You're Never Too Old For An Adventure

Dutch teenager Laura Dekker has just completed her epic solo circumnavigation of the world. At the tender age of 16, she became the youngest person ever to sail alone around the world, taking the title from previous holder, Australian sailor Jessica Watson (we’ll forgive her though).

The attempt began on 21 August 2010, when Dekker set sail from Gibraltar. And ended almost a year and a half later on the 21 January, when the courageous youngster arrived at Sint Maarten island, in the Caribbean.

Other intrepid 16-year-olds include British schoolgirl Amelia Hempleman-Adams, who in December became the youngest person to ski to the South Pole.

Amelia set off from the same spot where Sir Ernest Shackleton was forced to abandon his expedition in 1909. The teenager, accompanied by her famous adventurer father, David Hempleman-Adams, braved temperatures as low as -50˚C and spent seventeen nights camping in the Antarctic. 

Now, we might not all be as daring and intrepid at 16, but it’s certainly never too late to start. And Jeep 4x4 Vehicles in Adelaide could be a great way to start. Especially if you are planning any adventures of your own.

If you are feeling a bit old to start exploring, take a look at the other end of the record breaking scale for inspiration. Japanese pensioner Minoru Saito became the oldest person to sail solo around the world last year, when at the age of 77, he sailed into Yokohama, completing a gruelling 1,080-day journey.

At 76 years and 340 days, Nepalese man Min Bahadur Sherchan became the oldest person to climb Mount Everest. And in 2011 Fauja Singh became the oldest person to complete a marathon, at the ripe old age of 100.

Jeep itself has been involved in some pretty impressive records. In April 2007 the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited became the first car to climb the highest volcano on Earth. The Ojos del Salado in the Chilean Andes, standing at 6,892 meters or 22,597 feet. It took the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Adelaide five exhausting days to reach the top of the inhospitable volcano, the highest point to which a four-wheeled vehicle has ever travelled.

But if you don’t have your sea legs, and marathons and mountain climbing seem a bit too extreme, you can still get adventuring, no matter how old, or young, you are. Just jump in your Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler Adelaide and think big. After all, any drive in a Jeep can turn into an adventure.
